Microsoft Clarity now shows what AI agents do on your website
In short: Microsoft Clarity, the free analytics tool, launched an Agent Activity dashboard on 4 November 2026. It shows which AI agents visit your site and what they do there, from searches and form submissions to bookings and checkouts. Together with Clarity’s AI bot report, it’s the easiest free way right now to see how AI tools use your site.
I caught the news on LinkedIn from Aleyda Solis, who always shares good SEO tips and news. My first reaction was: very cool. Clarity has shown AI bot data since January, but now it’s getting a lot more structured.
What does Clarity’s Agent Activity dashboard show?
It shows how agent traffic changes over time, which AI agents visit your site, and what they do once they arrive: searches, form submissions, logins, downloads, appointment bookings and checkouts. For now it recognises agents from OpenAI, Google and Anthropic. Online shops and travel sites can also run simulations to test whether an agent can actually complete a task, like a purchase.
How fast is AI agent traffic growing?
Fast. Cloudflare reported on 30 September 2026 that daily requests from AI agents on its network grew by more than 1,700% in a year, and that more than half of internet traffic is now automated. Microsoft’s own data in Clarity shows agent sessions growing 88% in just three weeks (August to September 2026, 5.2 million sessions across 230,000 sites).
A lot of this is AI tools reading your site on behalf of a person. Someone asks ChatGPT or Perplexity a question, and the tool fetches your page to build its answer. The person may never visit you, but your content still decides whether your company gets mentioned.
What it looks like on my own site
I use otsokarvinen.fi as my lab for testing all sorts of things, including GEO: getting a site read and cited by AI assistants. In Clarity’s AI bot report for the last seven days:
- 2,365 requests from AI bots, 8.6% of all traffic to the site
- 58% were crawlers collecting content, 27% AI search and 15% AI assistants fetching a page for someone’s question
- Google, Perplexity and Microsoft were the busiest
- the most requested file was robots.txt, the file that tells bots what they’re allowed to read

Clarity doesn’t show me a growth trend for my site yet. My estimate is that it’s growing at about the same pace as Cloudflare’s figures, especially since I started doing real optimisation work on the site. Agent Activity shows nothing for me yet. Microsoft’s study leans on online shops and travel, where agents check out and book, so on a B2B expert site I’d say it’s still coming.
What should you do now?
- Install Microsoft Clarity if you don’t have it. It’s free.
- Connect your CDN (Cloudflare, Fastly or Amazon CloudFront) to get the AI bot data too. On WordPress, the latest Clarity plugin does it for you. If neither fits, figure out a different way, because this data is extremely valuable.
- Look at which topics and pages get crawled. That tells you what ends up in AI assistants and their training data, and so whether your site and your company get cited and mentioned.
Two limits worth knowing. The bot report shows that a page was requested, not that you were cited in an answer. And Microsoft notes that an agent session can include a person taking over, so an action in the report doesn’t prove the agent did it alone.
If you want help, we set up Clarity and the bot data, build the measurement and tracking around them, and then do the work that gets your content crawled, read, mentioned and cited.
