What is ChatGPT advertising?
ChatGPT began showing ads to Finnish users on 24 August 2026 (Free and Go tiers, 31 European countries). Self-service buying for European advertisers opened in early September.
Advertising is contextual: the ad is selected based on the topic, language and approximate location of the ongoing conversation. In the EEA, ads are not yet personalised.
There is a head start to be had right now. Finnish advertiser demand on the platform is only just emerging, and click prices settle according to demand.
What does an ad look like?

The ad is a card marked as sponsored, shown below the AI’s answer: a headline (recommended around 16 characters), a short description (around 32 characters), an image and a link.
The buying objective is either clicks (CPC) or impressions (CPM); according to the published terms, there is no minimum budget. Early-stage click prices in the United States have been around $3–5; the Finnish level is around €1.50 per click.
